Houseboat Trip July 15-18, 2005

This is Captain Chuck-E-Fresh behind the wheel.

Lisa demonstrated what we should do in case of an emergency. She probably shouldn't quit her day job.

Stacey and Lisa are now the "Ghetto Grillers". If their students could see them now......

This became one of our favorite jumping/diving spots on the boat. This and the slide were the only acceptable ways of getting in the water.

This is a rock quarry that quickly turned into a party cove. If you look really close you will see Brad, Stacey, Chris, Lisa and Shelli on the left. They all jumped off, some quicker than others, but they all did it!

Saturday night we docked at Buzzard Rock Marina. They had a bar with live music, mullets and plenty of other awesome sights. It was the only place Chris could sport his mohawk and not get weird looks. This night quickly became "Ladies Night".

Houseboat Trip, Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley

We just returned home from the houseboat trip to Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. It was a great long weekend trip, but we were all ready to back on land - it still feels like I'm rocking on the boat...
This is the picture the people from the boat rental place took, kind of like when you first walk into Disney World, except this one was actually free! It's a good picture of the group, which consisted of - from left to right, Chris Wescott, Lisa Cavin (Jill's colleague - 6th-grade teacher at GWCS), Brad and Stacey Harris (another GWCS 6th-grade teacher), Captain Chuck (yours truly), First Mate Jill Carnes, and Brad's sister Shelli.

Chase graduates from puppy school!!

On Tuesday Chase graduated from puppy school! He had to sit, stay, walk on a leash, wait at the door, lay down and bypass distractions before he could go through commencement. He did a great job! His brother Spiff is so proud of him. Well, that is when he has a moment of peace and quiet!

Back in the 9-2, I could throw a pigskin a 1/4-mile....

Here's a nice picture - I'm thinking about 1992 vintage - talk about stylin'...

Gathering in Indianapolis

This weekend Joe, Randi, and Rachel Gormong came to visit Jill and I from Terre Haute. Also - Mike and Roberta came down from Grand Rapids. It was a good 4th of July weekend - Joe and I got to go motorcyle riding down to Brown County while the girls shopped on Saturday, and Mike and I golfed at Southern Dunes while the girls shopped on Sunday...

On Sunday we went downtown to the circle to check out the War Memorial and the Eli Lilly Civil War Museum. No Flash Photography! We cheesed it up a bit, but we did also learn some things about the effects of the Civil War on central Indiana - learning is goooood.

In and Out Burger

Here I am at In-and-Out Burger in Ontario, California (near Los Angeles). The burgers were as good as The Dude, Donny, and Walter Szolcheck led me to believe.

Miebach trip to El Paso, Texas - June 2005. This is the town square in El Paso - not sure what the connection is with the Alligators, but they were everywhere. Downtown El Paso is a bit like downtown Detroit - with a number of empty buildings - the only difference is that it's 105 degrees outside and Mexico is down the street :) Posted by Picasa

Bath Time for Chase Carnes

Our new dog - Chase, is seen here having his first bath - he's not exactly a natural in the tub, but he got the hang of it after a while. He looks more like a wet rat right here, but the good news is...

Jill was able to get him all dried off. We found out from the Petsmart dog trainer that they should only be bathed monthly - so as not to dry out their fur. He looks normal again, although we keep hearing that he looks like he's balding.

Constructing our fence in the back yard...

Here is the house on June 5th - just before Jill and I started construction on our backyard privacy fence. We had it done in about 10 days - so now we can enjoy our dirt and mud in solitude...(see the pictures below). Posted by Picasa

Enlisting Dad's "expert" woodworking assistance...at least somebody here knows what they're doing... Posted by Picasa

The fence (almost complete) - it's nice to see our project almost done. Posted by Picasa

Up close and personal with Danica Patrick - Ok, so Jill and Danica's security guards kept me away - but you get the idea... Posted by Picasa
