Back in early February, we had the chance to go out to L.A. again for a long weekend. I had to attend the Grand Opening of the Porsche Distribution Center that we designed on Tuesday, so we went out ahead of it on Saturday. We had some nice weather (wasn't too hard to be nicer than Indy), and did some cool stuff while out there. We really liked the Farmer's Market and the La Brea Tar Pits. The picture above is Jill at the famous Beverly Hills sign on Sunset Blvd. There is a big sign that says "Absolutely no stopping at any time". Sometimes you have to stop anyway.
We went again to Grauman's Chinese Theater, to check out some famous handprints. Apparently Samuel L. Jackson had just gotten his done only 1 week before we got there. Here I am with Mr. Spock's print, and you can see Sly's is just North of that one.
It's probably a bit hard to see, but we were about as close to the Hollywood sign as you can get in this picture (click on it to blow it up). We drove up to the Observatory in Griffith Park (just North of Hollywood) to get closer. Unfortunately the Observatory itself was closed for remodeling, but you could still get some nice views of Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
Ok, so the pictures are out of order, but this is Randy's Donuts. We drove past it in Inglewood on the way to LAX, and of course after seeing the 15' tall donut on the roof, we pulled a U-turn and went back to get a t-shirt for me and a mug for Randy. They are his donuts after all. Check out

We stayed with Elsie and John in Villa Park for two nights. The first night we went up to Ventura and Santa Barbara. We got this nice picture after dinner on the last night of the trip. In the picture is my cousin Andrea, me, Grandma, Jill, Elsie, Greg (Andrea's husband), and their kids Ryan and Allie. John took the picture, so he's behind the camera. It was really nice staying there and of course we were well taken care of (thanks Elsie and John). She even made us dinner both nights and tried to get us to eat breakfast - even though it was hard due to the 3 hour jet lag (it always felt like noon at 9 a.m., but we got used to it just in time to come home).
